Unforgettable Attractions in Karnataka

The state of Karnataka, which is situated in the southern part of India, has a number of popular tourist places with the unforgettable combination of history, nature, spirituality and beach. The mention of some of them is following:

The laid back village of Hampi, which is considered as one of the top historical destinations of India, was once the last capital of Vijaynagar, one of the greatest Hindu empires in the history of India. Dating back to the 14th century, some extremely fascinating ruins in Hampi, which stretch for only over 25 kms and including more than 500 monuments, are intriguingly blended with large boulders rearing up all over the landscape. This ancient place provides the feeling of an incredible energy.

Home to IT industry of India, abundant in young professionals and having a vibrant, cosmopolitan air about it, Bangalore, which is the state capital city of Karnataka, is a fast growing, contemporary and prosperous place. In spite of not being virtually a must-explore city in India, Bangalore is loved by several people on account of being enriched with interesting buildings and temples, greenery, etc.

Situated in the northern part of Karnataka and home to some of the best beaches in India, Gokarna, which is a small and remote sacred town in this state, attracts both hedonistic holiday makers and holy pilgrims with equal enthusiasm. This destination provides the feeling of having been in Goa in its heyday.

Badami, Aihole and Pattadakal

Having been ruled by the Chalukya empire between the 4th and 8th centuries, Badami, Aihole and Pattadakal, which are enriched with the popular heritage sites, i.e. temples, monuments and ruins from that era, are a must visit while exploring Hampi. Abundant in approx 125 stone temples least visited unluckily, Aihole Village has been the originating place of the popular Chalukya style of architecture. Home to four sets of grand old rock-cut cave temples, Badami is one of the top places for the exploration of caves in India. At Pattadakal, tourists get the opportunity of visiting only one impressive temple complex.

Home to an impressive royal heritage, Mysore has interesting buildings, temples and palaces to be visited. The imposing Mysore Palace is the prime tourist attraction in the  city and its zoo is considered as one of the best ones in India. This city is also a noble place for the study of Ashtanga Yoga and the shopping of sandalwood.

Murudeshwara, which is situated on the southern Karnataka coast, approx 150 kms north of Mangalore, is home to the 2nd tallest statue Lord Shiva in the globe (the tallest one in Nepal). In this complex, visitors also get the chance of exploring a temple with an ornate 20 storied Gopura (tower) and internal lift ascending all the way upward so that one may take the breathtaking views.
